Hawass and Wegner (eds.) 2010 [Fs. David P. Silverman]

今夏の2010年7月中旬、ザマレックのSCAを訪れた時に出版関連の仕事に携わる方から見せてもらい、すぐに注文した本。シルバーマンへの、2巻本の献呈論文集です。
American University in Cairo Pressのサイトにて注文したけれど、そこではASAE Cahier 39というシリーズ名の方が優先的に表示されているので、ちょっと見つけづらい。
いささか長くなりますが、目次も併記。論文題名に含まれていたエジプト語の発音記号は、ネットにて用いられるものに変えてあります。

オコーナーがマルカタ王宮について書くのは久しぶりで、ここではドロシー・アーノルドが2002年にカタログに書いた文（cf. Ziegler (ed.) 2002）と、Vomberg 2004、すなわち「御臨の窓」（window of appearance）に関する本への反応が語られています。

彼の語り口にはしかし、いつも古代エジプトにおける理念の追究という側面が読み取られ、現場に携わる人は絶えず、こうした考えの「足を引っ張るような発見」に努めるべき。現場における細かな観察が、エジプト学の通念をひっくり返す可能性というのは、どこにでもあると感じられます。

古代エジプトの「ハーレム」についてはドイツ語で書かれた博士論文、

E. Reiser, Der königliche Harim im alten ägypten und seine Verwaltung

と、ケンプによってJEAに書かれたその書評、またすぐその後でZÄSに掲載されたケンプの論文などが知られていますが、これらの他、さらにメディネット・ハブ（ラメセス3世葬祭殿）の入口塔の上階の話を含め、ハーレムを包括的に語ろうとしているのが特徴。
最近ではイアン・ショーが進めているプロジェクト、

があって、以上の資料に目を通せばハーレムの解釈については最新の情報が得られるはず。

ショーが指揮する調査チームの人員リストには、ソルボンヌのM. Yoyotteという、エジプト学に関わる者ならば「ん？」と感じるような名前もうかがわれ、イギリス人だけで固める隊にするのはやめようという意識が感じられて好ましく思われます。
