Hawass and Richards (eds.) 2007 (Fs. David B. O'Connor)

D. B. オコーナーへの献呈論文集。オコーナーについてはアビュドスの重厚な本について触れました（O'Connor 2009）。ザヒ・ハワース・他が編集し、またSCAから出版された2巻本です。このふたりは共にアメリカのエジプト学者、オコーナーの教え子。

2冊を合わせると1000ページ近くになるこの本には多数の者が論文を寄稿しており、エジプト学における献呈論文集としては珍しいことに全員が英語で執筆しています。
両巻ともページが1から始まるので、混同する恐れがあるかも。
例によって、建築に関わる論考だけを取り上げるならば、

Dieter Arnold,
"Buried in Two Tombs? Remarks on 'Cenotaphs' in the Middle Kingdom",
Vol. I, pp. 55-61.

「セノタフ Cenotaph（空墓）」というのは、エジプト学の専門用語。この語はしかし、Shaw and Nicholson 2008 (2nd ed.)では項目立てされていなくて、一般には分かりにくい。アーノルドはすでに、Arnold 2003, p. 50で解説しています。

"Duplicates of tombs, or false tombs, were erected either at the burial sites of several kings (South Tomb in the Djoser precinct, Mentuhotep's temple with the Bab el-Hosan), or as separate structures at Abydos (Osiris tomb, Senwosret III). Private commemorative chapels without a tomb were also set up at Abydos in the Middle Kingdom. (.....) Conflicting interpretations exist concerning the concept of multiple burial places, for example places for statue burials, Osiris tomb, ka-tomb, the duality of Upper and Lower Egypt, tomb for the placenta of the king or Sokar tomb, as well as the survival of earlier, locally divergent burial practices."（抜粋）

単に遺体が収められていない見せかけの墓だけを指す言葉ではないため、面倒なことになっています。これに輪をかけて、錯綜する情報を提示。
61ページの参考文献の欄では、Der Tempel des Königs Mentuhotep von Deir el-Bahari I (Mainz 1974)が、H. アルテンミューラーによって書かれていることになっています（！）。こういう誤りは珍しい。
原稿の最終チェックは、ま、いいやという建築家らしいアバウトさ。

個人的には、B. J. Kempがアマルナにおける被葬者の向きなどを述べたものに興味が惹かれました。

ここには古代エジプト建築の向きに関するK. スペンスの博士論文が註として挙げられており、建築史関係者は注意を向けておく必要があります。
エジプト学の百科事典LÄでは「向き」について項目があるけれども、説明は簡単。A. バダウィは建築家でしたから、建物の向きについては専門家として気にしていました。３巻からなる彼の主著（Badawy 1954-1968）では、説明をある程度おこなっていますけれども、そのトピックを掘り下げた博士論文。

他には、M. LehnerとF. Sadaranganiがギザの労働者集合住居における造り付けの寝台について書いているのが面白かった。
